First Day of KINDERGARTEN!!

It's official! I have a child in school! Shyler had her very first day of Kindergarten! This morning she woke up happy, took a shower, I made pancakes and helped her get dressed and do her hair. I decided to take her myself on her very first day, and just be late for work. Totally worth it! :) She picked the outfit that she and Grandma Alice had gone shopping for and purchased last week. It was SO cute on her! She was so excited, that while I was getting ready, she came in and said, "Mom! How much longer until we get to go!!?"...oh how I wish that attitude of wanting to go to school would last her whole lifetime, however I am not that naive. :)

So we headed to the school, and Easton and I walked her in, but not without snapping a few pictures by the car, and by the school. We found her name at one of the tables, and she put her backpack on her chair...and then the nerves hit, and she was very uncomfortable, and I thought, oh no, she's going to freak out and start crying...but nope, I just talked with her, and I introduced her to the kids on either side of her...the boy on her right, is a cute little kid named, Mo. how cute is that!? haha. And the teeny tiny girl on the left is Laicie. So I tried to get them talking, and she slowly became more comfortable and once she pretty much started ignoring me, I knew that was my cue...so off Easton and I went. We got outside the school...and emotions hit. NO. I did NOT cry...however, I felt the rumblings of emotion, but I harnessed them and was a strong mother. No tears today. :) I survived. :)

(After school she said her favorite part was recess...of course)

Funny Things they say....

Easton- I few months ago I had this great shoe party where I got some really awesome shoes...Well one morning I was wearing a pair of especially cute brown/gold ones...Easton looks down at my feet, then back up at me and sweetly says, "Mom, I like your shoes." (The next time I wore that pair...he said it again...he really likes those shoes I guess!) hahaha.

Shyler- So on Friday I tackled the huge project of cleaning and organizing our disaster of a basement storage room...Shyler came downstairs complaining, "Mom, there's nothing to do!"...I absently told her, "There is lots to do"...and then came the reply, simply stated with a hint of attitude, "Like what? Play golf and drink beers?"... I was taken aback...and then suddenly it hit me, it's a line from the movie, Dennis the Menace...I had a good laugh.

Easton's Adventure with the Dentist

This past Friday we took Easton to the hospital to have some dental work done. Poor kid had enormous cavaties in his back bottom molars and had to have crowns put on. He also need two fillings on his top molars....so in order to save him from pain and scar him for life about dentists, we opted to have him put under general anesthesia and do all the work in one swoop. I'm so grateful we did! He was soooo great! He behaved beautifully while we waited for the dentist, and then he went back in the wagon with the nurses. They said he was really sweet and not scared at all when they took him back. The work all went great and the dentist said it would be his easiest case all day! They rolled Easton back into the room on a bed and he was still trying to wake up. When he was more alert, he asked to get out of the bed, and he curled up on Daddy's lap. We were checked out in less than an hour, and Easton was already eating things on the way home! Never had any side effects or complained of pain. My little trooper....

Gentlemen, Start your engines....

So on Saturday, we were invited to attend the Demolition Derby! WOOHOO!!! It was seriously SO much fun! We went to dinner first at the Pizza Factory with Scott, Taysia, Aubs, and their friend Kadee and her lil' bro Jade. Dinner was YUMMY! Then it was off to the Derby! It started around 7:30 (was supposed to start at 7:00)...and we didn't get out of there until 10:30 or so! Crazy! But it didn't really seem that long. It was tons of fun with loud engines, people screaming, and metal smashing! haha. Check out our pics.

A visit from the tooth fairy....

Shyler lost her very first tooth last night! She's been wiggling it for days now, and one bite into her corn last night loosened it up that last little bit to where later she could pull it out. We attempted the tooth floss trick, but it kept slipping off...and of course she was scared for us to pull it, so we just let her play with it until it popped out...Well she was wandering around wiggling it, and when it popped out, she dropped it. Well we have longer carpet and it's speckled with beige/brown/cream colors...we were all on our hands and knees searching for the tooth! Finally we found it caught somewhere on shyler's pants...phew!

So she had a little visit from the tooth fairy last night that left her $1 and a little note to thank her for the healthy white tooth. :) She was SO excited to find it this morning...I think it's the happiest she's been when waking up in a long time.
