FHE

Last night, Shyler gave us a lesson for Family Home Evening. She showed us a Bible, a Book of Mormon, a present with the Holy Ghost in it, and some Gospel pictures. It was really cute when she'd have Easton come sit by her and then she'd ask, "Easton, do you know what this is?"
I see a future missionary! haha.

Child abuse

My children think I don't feed them.
The moment we arrive home in the afternoon/evening- they inform me that they need a snack. I then inform them back that I am going to make dinner

Usually this is followed by an annoying whining and pleading that I pretend not to hear (sometimes I give in)

Then after dinner, we go through the same routine before bed...

Yesterday Shyler and Easton ate all their dinner. I was SO proud of them! A few hours later while I cleaned up and asked them to get ready for bed... the whining began... Shyler was begging me for some food. I told her, you already had dinner- you'll survive... After 5 minutes of back and forth arguing- I finally had her on the way to the bathroom to brush her teeth and she yells back to me, "I'll DIE!" and I said, "No- you won't die, you'll be fine!"... "No!" she replies, "I will starve to death if you don't give me any food"

I didn't feed her. Call the police- apparently I'm starving my children to death.

Tri-Fit Challenge

Our stake did a Tri-fit challenge, where they challenged the women to do 3 events (or 1 or 2). Walk 1 mile, Bike 5 miles, Run 3 miles. I chose to go for all 3.
I began the walk with my friend and neighbor Andrea and we walked pretty quickly. We then got to bikes. The first pic is the two of us just starting out (thanks to Andrea's hubby Matt for the pics). Pretty soon though, I had to leave Andrea behind (sorry!) but my road bike goes a bit quicker than the mountain bike she was on...so I was off... It wasn't a race, but being my usual self... I couldn't help the competitive feeling... I finished the bike and was off for the run leg.. OY... the canyon wind was KILLER! Like Andrea said later, she felt like she could have walked quicker than jogging against the wind... and I totally agree... but I jogged the whole time (minus a few steps at the water station).. I was really happy with my performance, I finished 4th (but at least one of the people that finished before me, hadn't done all 3 events).
Funny story actually... as I was running, a woman ran by my and I didn't see her face, but once she passed, we were both running about the same pace...and I thought, this'll be good, I'll just keep pace with her and it'll help...well she began going quicker and I just couldn't keep up and eventually she had gotten pretty far ahead...I finish the run and who walks up to me but my aunt Racheal who doesn't even live in Utah! Then I see what she's wearing and she was that woman that ran by me!! And here is the funny part... She knew I was ahead of her on the run somewhere and she was trying to catch up to me! haha. She passed me without recognizing me! Too funny... I wished I would have known it was her, it would have been fun to run together!
The whole event was really great! Our ward won several awards for Most participation and some other things! Great job 13th! Can't wait to do it again next year!

Adventures in Dentistry

Here I sit... Waiting while my son comes out of the anesthesia.
The emotions I have lived in just 4 short hours!
Easton awoke this morning with a big smile on his face and a hug for me. MELT MY HEART!
The car ride over he was not scared, almost excited! SO PROUD!
Waiting an hour after our appointed time at the dentist..slighty ANNOYED..
Holding Easton in my lap while they gave him the first initial shot of anesthesia and he cried in pain. SADDENED.
Holding my son while the drugs took effect and his eyes glazed over and his breathing slowed- HORROR
Handing him over to the Doctor-PAIN
Rushing to call Cole from the car-Complete Meltdown!
Now holding my baby in my arms waiting for it all to wear off...RELIEF and more LOVE than I could ever imagine...

The coolest place ever

This is the living room where i made thousands of childhood memories... you know what's so great!? It's never changed! I love it! This is my Grandma and Grandpa's house. I've always loved it...

Same couches I've always known...and still comfy! How do they keep everything in such great condition!?

How awesome it this turquoise oven!!?

Pretty retro birds...My grandma's favorite color is yellow...

Checkout that thermometer above the phone! I love the illustration, so 1950's

This is their storage room. I have never seen anything so awesome in my life. My grandparents live off their garden year round! The buy milk and bread at the store and that's pretty much it...Skills like that are slowly dying out....I know I don't have them!

I love old appliances, checkout this awesome freezer! Now that's quality!

I love the old books and chair I found in one of their empty bedrooms...

This table- I WANT it! Seriously if I could pick one thing in this house to have it'd be this table. I LOVE it!

My grandpa is a master woodworker- he makes the coolest things. His basement is now filled with kid tables, desks, folding stools, calendar holders, marble ramps/games, book shelves, marshmallow throwers, pencil holders...You give him an idea and he goes crazy with it! He's amazing!

I love this old vacuum...and it still works!

And the highlight of a visit to Grandma and Grandpa's...ice cream on the patio! Check out the spoon! I guarantee that is the first and only set of silverware they've ever owned...and check out the retro tabletop as well...it's their old dining room table! Nothing goes to waste here!

My children now get to make these memories to last their lifetimes...I hope the memories are as dear to them as they are to me.

Mecham Family Photos 2010

Cole's parents scheduled for family photos to be taken in July by Kamie Hair. Here are a few of my favorites...

Our little family
My Cowboy
Easton and Dad (even though Cole isn't smiling & Easton kinda has a doofy face...lol)
Steven and Alice- i think this one is so cute.
The Grandchildren: Korbin, Briley, Destri, Easton, Shyler, Destri and Hayden
The Family

The Big Scare

Ok, So i LOVE to scare people. I don't know if it's the adrenaline rush, or the high pitched shreiks of pure terror, or what...but i LOVE it! One of my favorite things to do is wait for Cole to come out of the bathroom or around a corner and jump out to scare him... too funny...

So to lead into the following video...it's a boring Thursday morning, I'm chatting with my co-worker/friend Amanda, when our other co-worker/friend (well she was my friend before this..lol) calls down to Amanda's desk and says she's coming down to give her something. I instantly hand Amanda my phone and tell her to start taping while I position myself on the counter behind the wall... In walks Lacy... the rest is history...

Note*** This video went viral at work! People LOVED it! And yes, I am fully ready for Lacy's sweet revenge... bring it on!
