Run for Family 2009

So back in the Spring, my cousin Kathy, my sister Kimberly and I decided to organize a half marathon and 5K to raise family for Lupus and Diabetes. The run was held September 12, 2009. It was not an official race, but we'd still be able to say we'd done it! My wonderful mom Sandra even made a finish line for us all to run under. I trained all summer for it (not a specific training schedule though)..and I thought, it's going to be a challenge, but I wasn't worried...Oh wow was I surprised! It was a killer! Luckily I was running with Dana (a friend of my cousin Kirk and his wife Laura), because having her there was the motivation to keep running! And then at the end of the run, I had just gotten up a LONG hill and my legs were barely moving...well here comes my uncle Chris...he started screaming at me like a drill sargeant! But it worked! My legs moved faster, and then he started racing me to the finish line, so of course, my competitive side kicked in and I was sprinting! (Thanks Chris for helping me have a strong finish) I finished in about 2 hours and 8 minutes. (like i said, it wasn't official in any way) It was SO hard, but I'm so happy I did it.

Here's a pic I stole from Laura, Thanks! And I'm sorry Lindsey, Nate and Matthew, we took it after you had left.

Way to GO!

I still haven't ran a half- but if you did 13 miles in 2 hours that is less then a 10 minute mile, so you would have beat me for sure!

You look great!
